The IFC Theater located at 323 Ave of The Americas, is an Independent Film Center specializing in showcasing works by Independent Filmmakers. Many film enthusiasts and people involved in the production of Independent Films go to the IFC because they are likely to find films not otherwise playing at larger cinemas and like minded people with similar interests.

Dwayne Buckle went to the IFC on August 18Th 2006, to promote his film projects to filmmakers and film enthusiasts who go to the IFC to support Independent Film, a place in which he thought was a safe haven where people in his line of work could go and safely share the same passions and love for cinema.
Unfortunately, the IFC happens to be in a location that is becoming increasingly more and more volatile thanks to throngs of Gay and Lesbian teenagers who flock to the area because it is the home of various bars, gay-clubs, adult merchandise shops, and the infamous “Christopher Street Pier”.
The fact that Dwayne Buckle was out working, and trying to market his own Independent Film outside of the Independent Film Center, the night when he was attacked, makes the revelations in this expose ever more frightening.
A few days prior to the incident, Dwayne Buckle contacted the programming director of the IFC theater, regarding the possibility of screening his films at the Film Center.
Dwayne Buckle is an avid goer of Independent Film Cinemas throughout New York City including the IFC, Film Forum, The Pioneer Theater, Sunshine Cinemas, The Angelica and others.
Dwayne Buckle is also member of The Independent Film Project (IFP) and other Independent Film Organizations, and is a signatory film producer with the Screen Actor’s Guild.
